Based on my recollection of the campaign, here are some expectations of Obama's first 100 days.

  • Troops out of Iraq
  • US friends with all other countries
  • Close the Gitmo terrorist holding facility
  • Government paid mortgages and free gasoline (according to Peggy Joseph)
  • Focus on war in Afganistan
  • Increase transparency and accountability in Washington
  • Eliminate America's use of coal
  • Stop Earth's temperature from rising
  • Kill Bin Laden
  • End partisanship in Washington
  • Stop oceans from rising
  • Lower unemployment
  • Increase value of investments (i.e stock market)
  • Lower taxes

Finis.

That's it. This blog is done. Done. Done. And done. 100 days. Done. I don't like the course we are on. I hope to God to not have to open a new blog "The Last 100 days of the United States of America". Your and my kids future has been mortgaged. Things will get worse, much worse. This thing is a runaway train. Pray we survive.

It is eerily that the 100 days course has been set and tomorrow is May Day. Its an important holiday in the communist counties. Maybe it will be in America, too?

"Mayday, mayday, mayday, this is the last bastion of freedom calling...can anyone hear me?"
"Mayday, mayday, mayday, we are sinking fast..."
"Mayday, mayday, mayd..."

Day 100. Loving you.

From CNN

President Obama said Wednesday that a recent uptick in violence in Iraq won't affect his plan for a phased military withdrawal.

"Civilian deaths, incidents of bombings ... remain very low relative to what was going on last year," Obama said during a prime time news conference on his 100th day in office.

"The political system is holding and functioning in Iraq."

Wait, are you saying Bush and Rumsfeld plan worked? WTF?

Its good to see they have refined BOTO's reading technique...looking straight into the camera here.

Seriously, well not really. This pretty much sums up the coverage of the first 100 days.

Does BOTO have a twin sister?

Day 99. Flattered or Furious?

CNN.com...
NEW YORK (CNN) -- A "furious" President Obama has ordered a review of the decision to fly a Boeing 747 frighteningly close to the lower Manhattan skyline, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday.

If you don't think the staff and BOTO did not know about this, you are nuts. He was probably on board along with his biggest donors. But after the reaction in NYC, he needed to come out clean...being "furious" should do it.

And from guardian.co.uk...

Barack Obama's offer of a hand of friendship to Iran after 30 years of hostility may have met with a sceptical public response from Tehran. But now a rapprochement of sorts may be under way amid evidence that the US president's can-do electioneering tactics have struck a chord with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Or is this a mocking jibe at the United States? I think Ackmajeemidod will be the end to this president's reign.

Now hopefully nothing (like the swine flu) will mess up tomorrow...the 100th day.

Day 98. TOTUS

From politico.com

President Obama’s speech at the National Academy of Sciences Monday morning hit a brief snag when Obama got ahead of his script.

Laying his plan for a President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Obama began to name the members of PCAST listed in his prepared remarks – before realizing he’d already introduced them, earlier in his speech.

“In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here,” Obama said, pausing for several seconds as he looked at the prompter. “Go ahead. Move it up. I had already introduced all you guys.”

The audience, which gave the president a warm reception, responded with a quiet laugh.

For me, the most memorable thing of the first 100 days is BOTO's complete lack of self-conscienceness in using his crutch, I mean teleprompter. What a way to show people who are afraid to speak in public how you can fool everyone watching on TV!

It reminds me of the story about Peter, who wanted to learn the names of birds. He read a book and learned the names of birds. Then Peter wanted to learn how to speak in public. He read off a teleprompter.

Day 97. Dammit, Janet!

From WRAL.com(OK, AP)

WASHINGTON — The U.S. declared a public health emergency Sunday to deal with the emerging new swine flu, much like the government does to prepare for approaching hurricanes.
...
At a White House news conference, Besser and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano sought to assure Americans that health officials are taking all appropriate steps to minimize the impact of the outbreak.
...

Swine flu. Oh dear, what should we do? Government, please help us. We do not want to get the swine flu.

Look how on top of the situation the administration is. Janet is out there assuring us of the proper measures being taken. BOTO is golfing, I mean receiving hourly updates on the situation.

Don't worry about the emergency, though. See how much better this administration is than the Katrina-era administration?

It's a good think BOTO got out of Mexico (where this thing started) just in time. You conspiracy theorists out there can forget about him personally planting this distraction. Stop thinking that right now!

So, once public places are shuttered, like schools, etc. You people are probably going to go a little stir crazy. But hey, when it's over, think of the spending that will pull us out of this little recession. Not to mention the need for grave diggers to bury all the dead people...that should take care of the unemployment problem.

Yeah, rest assured people. We got another capable Janet, like the one from Nevada in the Clinton administration.

Take advantage of the crisis, right Rham-ster?

Day 96. Superpresident!

From CNN's Bill Schneider

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- How does President Obama compare with his predecessors after nearly 100 days in office?
...
Is Obama the superpresident? So far, so good.

This guy is in love. Oh, yeah.

Friday, April 24, 2009

Day 95. Nothing today.

No time...have a real job.

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Day 94. My sentiments, exactly.

TMZ...

Barack Obama wants change -- his top economic advisor just wants a nap.

When you have to listen to "blah, blah, blah...", what do you expect?

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Day 93. How embarrassing.

LA Times...

HAVANA -- Fidel Castro says President Barack Obama "misinterpreted" his brother Raul's remarks regarding the United States and bristled at the suggestion that Cuba should free political prisoners or cut taxes on dollars people send to the island.
...

To paraphrase another 'King', this administration just wants 'everybody to get along'. It's embarrassing. They just want to have an international group hug. The problem is a lot of countries would like to stick a knife in our back. I don't think the administration gets that. One term loser.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Day 92. Can't touch this..

From CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A key Democrat who reportedly was overheard on a National Security Agency wiretap discussing a deal with a suspected Israeli agent has called the wiretap an "abuse of power."

Rep. Jane Harman, D-California, called on the Obama administration to release transcripts of the alleged conversations to her, saying she would make them public.

Obama will not stop the previous administration's officials from being prosecuted. But he is wiretapping members of his own party?

"Can't touch this."

Monday, April 20, 2009

Day 91. Guys, guys,...

On budget cuts...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Cut a latte or two out of your annual budget and you've just done as much belt-tightening as President Barack Obama asked of his Cabinet on Monday.

The thrifty measures Obama ordered for federal agencies are the equivalent of asking a family that spends $60,000 in a year to save $6.

A fly on the wall would have heard this at today's cabinet meeting...
"Guys, guys, come on guys, settle down. It's time to get serious about the budget, really serious...because this is going to hurt..."

I have never been more embarrassed as an American Citizen as that I am right now.
It is getting to the point where it is not even funny anymore. Thankfully I have only nine more days!

Seriously, I guess this is patriotic or something, we should ask Joe Biden.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Day 90. 'Grave' concern.

From CNN

(CNN) -- President Obama called Sunday for the release of a U.S. journalist convicted of espionage in Iran.

"I am gravely concerned with her safety and well-being," Obama, who was attending the Summit of the Americas, told reporters in response to a question about 31-year-old Roxana Saberi.

"We are working to make sure that she is properly treated and to get more information about the disposition of her case. She is an American citizen and I have complete confidence that she was not engaging in any sort of espionage. She is an Iranian-American who was interested in the country which her family came from. And it is appropriate for her to be treated as such, and to be released."
...

Wow, this guy is tough. Though to me it sounds like he is on the campaign trail with the "we're working hard for you" schtick. I bet he also has his sleeves rolled up into a nice cliche.

But you'd better watch out Acmadeemajod, the Israelis are coming for you.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Day 89. State of the Union: Confusion

From CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States is boycotting a U.N. conference on racism next week over a document that "singles out" Israel in its criticism and conflicts with the nation's "commitment to unfettered free speech," the U.S. State Department said Saturday.
...
Meanwhile, the Congressional Black Caucus said it was "deeply dismayed" by the decision made by the nation's first African-African president, saying it was inconsistent with administration policies.

"Had the United States sent a high-level delegation reflecting the richness and diversity of our country, it would have sent a powerful message to the world that we're ready to lead by example," the statement said. "Instead, the administration opted to boycott the conference, a decision that does not advance the cause of combating racism and intolerance, but rather sets the cause back."

Looks like the CBC is confused...is he with us or against us? We'll see.

Friday, April 17, 2009

Day 88. Che Obama?

From CNN

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago (CNN) -- President Obama said Friday he is seeking "a new beginning" in U.S. relations with Cuba.
President Obama and Venezuela President Hugo Chavez greet each other Friday at the Summit of the Americas.

Before addressing the representatives of 34 countries at the Summit of the Americas, Obama and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez saw each other and shook hands.

Here is Che Obama, by his position, through his actions, he is essentially attacking American freedom on foreign soil. Past attacks on our freedom have brought the people of this country together, like on 9/12. The more sudden the attack, the quicker we come together. This attack is occurring over weeks and months, therefore it will take a little longer to come together and defeat the rise of the Socialists. We are a big domino, but we will not fall.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Day 87. He's coming.

From CNN...

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (CNN) -- Reviving a ban on assault weapons and more strictly enforcing existing gun laws could help tamp down drug violence that has run rampant on the U.S.-Mexican border, President Obama said Thursday.
...

He's coming for us gun owners. I say bring it. Bring it on. People are getting outraged over taxes, spending and the socialist agenda. The assault weapons ban adds impetus to the outrage. This will bring the change we need--lots of new faces in congress in 2011.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Day 86. Tax day.

From CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The White House released 2008 tax returns Wednesday for the Obamas and the Bidens.

The president and the first lady reported an adjusted gross income of of more than $2.6 million last year, and paid $855,323 in federal income tax. The Obamas also donated $172,050, to 37 different charities, including $25,000 contributions to CARE and the United Negro College Fund.

The Obamas, who donated $26,270 to Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ in 2007, did not contribute any money to the church in 2008. They donated $240,370 to 33 charities in 2007, including $35,000 to CARE, and $50,000 to the United Negro College Fund.

Was the $35000 to CARE or CAIR?

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Day 85. First family = FIRST-TASTIC!

From CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Bo the Portuguese water dog made his White House debut under cloudy skies Tuesday afternoon, spending several minutes taking his new family on a lively romp over the South Lawn with frequent stops for hearty sniffs at his new surroundings.

OMG, this family is so AWESOME! Now, I know the dog was supposed to be a 'rescue' dog, but those allergies well, that'll put the damper on quickly. You know the intent was there and the symbolism of that is all that really matters--substance is WAY over-rated. Besides, you could argue that it was 'rescued' from Ted Kennedy, (who probably is into these dogs to avoid another Mary Jo Koepeckne incident). hehe.

Even the name 'Bo', it sounds so southern red-neckedy. Like one of the Duke boys. These people are reaching out to the diversity that is America. They are FIRST-TASTIC! Fine! Maybe it is just a little self-serving and arrogant being that those are also his initials, but remember, HE WON!

OK, gotta go throw-up, now.

Monday, April 13, 2009

Day 84. Cuba, here we come!

From the Cable News Network...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama lifted all restrictions Monday on the ability of individuals to visit relatives in Cuba, as well as to send them remittances.
...

So the cruel, brutal dictatorial Castro family will benefit from all the money spent by Americans visiting family. Certainly the money will be put nefarious use by the brothers. Will Cubans enjoy the same freedom to come and go from Cuba at will? Will visitors enjoy world-class healthcare in the commie utopia? The answers are No and No.

Perhaps this move will help GM by opening up a new market for their vehicles. Don't you think it's about time to replace some of those 50+ year old cars they are driving around down there? We have to save the earth, after all! Can't you hear the environmental do-gooders now?

Sunday, April 12, 2009

Day 83, All Hail, BOTO!

From CNN

(CNN) -- For four days, an American sea captain and four Somali pirates rode the waves of the Indian Ocean in an enclosed lifeboat, far out of sight of most of the world.
...

Thanks be to God, on this Easter, for Barack Obama, The One! He saved American ship captain Richard Phillips. He deserves all the credit for his steady, calm hand at the tiller of this pirate crisis. He so brilliantly acted indifferent to the situation where an American was being held hostage by terrorists pirates, and was there to talk about "housing" the other day. But now we know that BOTO was secretly plotting, planning and strategizing the rescue of Captain Phillips. All Hail, BOTO!

And get your cameras! It's another historic moment as the first black president gets a first dog. My understanding is that it is a shelter dog rescued by the Obamas and its name is 'Bo'....awwww. So historic!

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Day 82. All Hail, BOTO!

from CNN...

(CNN) – Arizona State University appeared to backtrack Saturday in the controversy over not giving President Barack Obama an honorary degree, and said it would pay tribute to the president by expanding its most important scholarship program and naming it after him.
...

Remember, as BOTO said, "I won".
Now, you shall all bow and kiss His ring. Or face vilification!

Friday, April 10, 2009

Day 81. Domino's Pizza

From the hometown rag...

It just doesn't add up.

Proud Chicagoan Barack Obama plus a relocation to Washington equals the president special ordering Chicago-style deep-dish pizza from Pi ... in St. Louis?

But it's true.
...

Hey, to hell with the state of the economy and taxes. Remember he 'won'.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Day 80. Guys, guys, we're talking about housing right now.

Reuters has it...

WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) - Ragtag teams of modern-day Blackbeards are posing an annoying distraction for Barack Obama, forcing him to add Somalia to an already long list of foreign policy challenges.
...
He declined to comment on the pirate situation for the second day in a row on Thursday.
...

WTF? Apparently they are having some troubles with the TOTUS. Why else would he have nothing to say about the pirate situation?
If there are any bad guys out there in the big, wide world, we're screwed. I have zero confidence in this administration.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Day 79. The world loves us...

Today we learned how the United States is going to talk to Cuba about normalizing relations and Iran about nuclear weapons. Somali pirates took a ship captain hostage. Barack is packing for Mexico. Maybe not a bad idea to get the hell out of here.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Day 78. Imitation - the sincerest form of flattery.

From CNN...

(CNN) -- President Obama made an unannounced visit to Iraq on Tuesday.

The top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. Ray Odierno, met Obama shortly after Air Force One landed in Baghdad about 4:42 p.m. local time (9:42 a.m. ET).

It's "great to see the troops," Obama said shortly after landing. "They're putting their heart and soul into the effort."
...

BOTO is taking a page from the Bush playbook. Can't wait to hear about the mood of the reception...guessing it was something like this contrast.

Monday, April 6, 2009

Day 77. Who you calling turkey, sucker?

Uh, Uh, Uh, we can, uh, ...

its just too painful.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Day 76. Kim Jong Il for SecDef?

From CNN...

...
In a statement after the launch, Obama said, "With this provocative act, North Korea has ignored its international obligations, rejected unequivocal calls for restraint and further isolated itself from the community of nations."
...

North Korea broke the rules. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You know what we do with rule breakers around here...that's right, we appoint them to a high government position--like the cabinet.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Friday, April 3, 2009

Day 74. Out of the park...

From CNN...

(CNN) -- Following this week's tough talks on the global financial crisis, President Obama on Friday shifted his tone to reflect upon his regrets, his frustrations and his hopes for the younger generation.
Obama's remarks came after a woman from Heidelberg, Germany, asked if he ever regretted having run for president. The question yielded a lengthy response from Obama, who is participating in his first overseas trip in office.

Ooohhhh. Gosh, he understands us. He relates to us. He is soooo dreamy!

Yep, the administration pulled off a game of good old American softball. Toss that baby up there and pow! Out of the park. See ya!

Watch it...

But becareful...you might need a box of kleenix by the time it is over...or in my case a barf bag.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Day 73. Please...

CNN reports...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The State Department on Thursday sent a blunt, public message to North Korea: Don't launch your missile.

Wow. The administration is taking a really hard line with these North Koreans.

If they launch it anyway, it goes to show you...when you ask a favor, you should always say 'please'.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

72. All systems operating nominally

From CNN

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Barack Obama announced new arms negotiations with Russia's president, discussed North Korea with China's president, talked about the global economy with Britain's prime minister and had tea with Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday -- a busy day for any leader.

Blah, blah, blah...everyone is following the script to a tee.

It looks like the teleprompter is there, but he is trying to cover with the papers at the podium...what's he talking about, anyway?

But supposedly BOTO gives the queen another iPod, I still think a clapper would have been a better gift.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Day 71. Off to see the queen

From this aticle...

...
British etiquette says "you may not shake the queen's hand, only tough it briefly" and that if the Queen stops eating then everyone else must stop too, the News reported.
...

Not sure what it means to 'tough' the queen's hand. Hopefully the teleprompter will provide all the other etiquette tips.

I wonder what gifts they're taking. Maybe a clapper?

Monday, March 30, 2009

Day 70. Got my game on

From CNN

(CNN) -- President Obama announced Monday that struggling automotive giants General Motors and Chrysler will be given a "limited" period of time to "restructure in a way that would justify an investment of additional taxpayer dollars."
...
GM's restructuring began early Monday when CEO Rick Wagoner announced his resignation, which he said came at the request of the Obama administration.

That's right, baby. Now you know who is Boss around here.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Day 68. Another Camp David weekend.

The main computer is down...self-inflicted harddrive corruption. If anything like that ever happened to the teleprompter, it would be fun to watch BOTO, uh, st, stuh, stumble through a speech.
Anyway, with BOTO away, not much to report.

Friday, March 27, 2009

Day 67. The teleprompter gets tough on terror

From CNN...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- More troops, new legislation, improved troop training and added civilian expertise highlight President Obama's strategy to fight terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

This guy is just an embarrassment. That telepromter is running the administration...DON'T WATCH ANY OF THE VIDEO FROM THIS ARTICLE, IT WILL MAKE YOU THROW UP!

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Day 66. More war!

From CNN.com...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama plans to send another 4,000 troops to Afghanistan along with hundreds of civilian specialists in an effort to confront what he considers "the central challenge facing [that] country," senior administration officials said Thursday.

What!?! Isn't the world supposed to love us now that BOTO won? I hear Smokin' Joe Biden opposed much more involvement.

But, it looks like Obama is going to get his first real test...
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. Navy ships capable of shooting down ballistic missiles are being moved to the Sea of Japan, a Navy spokesman said.
...
If North Korea launches, the Obama administration may have as little as five minutes to decide whether it is a threat and, if necessary, try to shoot it down.

also from CNN.com
I have very little faith that BOTO will not blink first. I just hope none of our soldiers get hurt.

What do all the anti-war, young, peace-loving social networking folks who joined the online town hall think about all this?

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Day 65. Busy @ work.

Hey, somebody has to work (I'm talking about me) to make a buck in this country...there are taxes to be paid!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Day 64. Press conference.

Well the teleprompter president had a press conference tonight. I did not watch it, but I hear he tried to hide his use of the teleprompter by not having the side screens, but a huge LCD! This way he did not have the mechanical side-to-side glances, but stared straight ahead into the cameras. Nice try.

Monday, March 23, 2009

Day 63. Barack who?

What's that? I have not had a chance to look at a paper today...

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Day 62. Taking a break.

Your blogger has a really bad case of "Obama-fatigue".

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Day 61. Doing his part

The CNN political ticker has this article

(CNN) — President Obama says Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s job is safe, according to excerpts of Mr. Obama’s interview this week with CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

Its nice to see the president bucking up like the rest of us to save the economy. Sounds like Geithner will not be just another unemployment statistic on April 3rd when the March numbers come out.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Day 60. Laying low.

What a week. Good day to lay low while damage control does it's thing today and over the weekend.

The wife planted a garden. Nice and symbolic. I'm guessing the kids won't weed it.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Day 59. See what happens without a teleprompter?

From Political Punch over at ABCNews.com.

Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he's gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.

He bowled a 129, the president said.

"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.

It's "like the Special Olympics or something," the president said.

There is nothing more to say. CNN is even carrying it...wow!

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Day 58. 'The (165 million) bucks stop with me'

Now it's cool to be responsible for the AIG bonuses.

(CNN) -- President Obama said Wednesday he'll "take responsibility" for AIG executives receiving controversial bonuses while the company took $173 billion in government bailouts.

I'm guessing the administration got some new focus group results. Chris Dodd is claiming responsibility, too. Will Barney Frank come out tomorrow?

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Day 57. Looking for Hope and Change.

This from CNN...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama urged both Democratic and Republican members of Congress Tuesday to provide him with "constructive alternative solutions" if they disagree with any sections of his 2010 budget proposal.

While I am not a member of congress, I do have a few ideas:

  • Cut taxes on corporations

  • Cut taxes on individuals (that actually already pay taxes)

  • Eliminate earmarks and pork projects

  • Stop trying to grow the government in general.

Furthermore, we could stop giving money to groups like ACORN and continue with our moral obligation to support our injured warriors.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Day 56. Outrage!

From CNN.com
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama said Monday he will attempt to block bonuses to executives at ailing insurance giant AIG, payments he described as an "outrage."
Maybe its in these people's employment contract?
In the letter to Geithner, Liddy said the unit's 25 highest-paid contract employees will reduce their salaries to $1 this year and all other officers in the unit will reduce their salaries by 10 percent. Other "non-cash compensation" will be reduced or eliminated. But he told Geithner that some bonus payments are binding legal obligations of the company, and "there are serious legal, as well as business consequences for not paying."
So you see, its us hard working people against these rich Wall Steet type. Class warfare! That is how democrats oppress people while smiling and telling them they 'got their sleeves rolled up and are working hard for you'. Open your eyes people! This is pure hypocrisy. "Do as I say, not as I do".

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Day 55. High stakes.

In this article, we have former Vice President Dick Cheney sharing his experience and expertise with us...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Obama administration has endangered Americans and opened the country to further attack by reversing Bush administration anti-terrorism policies such as harsh interrogations of suspects, former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.

It seems to me that the current administration is rolling the dice (has bought a lottery ticket with our last dollar, is playing with fire, etc.) with the current approach to governing the United States.

Remember September 10, 2001? There were rolling brown-outs in California. We had no idea what was coming the next day. The current economic trouble has our eye off the terrorism ball. God forbid, but an attack now would be devastating to our country.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Day 54. Kumbaya

The administration will soon have all peoples of the world sitting around a campfire singing Kumbaya. This 'earth shattering' event will start with bomber pilots!

Friday, March 13, 2009

Day 53. Happy days are here again

About a month ago, just before the Trichinosis Package was passed, we were in a 'crisis' and a 'catastrophe' was looming. It was 'urgent'. Today March 13th, 2009. It is 'not as bad as we think'. From this article...
"I don't think things are ever as good as they say, or ever as bad as they say," Obama added. "Things two years ago were not as good as we thought because there were a lot of underlying weaknesses in the economy. They're not as bad as we think they are now."
So this is the program we are on:
  • Claim the sky is falling
  • Spend a lot of money that you don't have to hold the sky up
  • Correct yourself and say it was only a raindrop coming down to help the flowers grow
  • Figure you just saved your 2nd term as president
Now with this program, you are not supposed to look at your 401k statements or read here that about 45% of the world's wealth has vanished. Just look at the pretty flowers. Mmmm, pretty...

Funny thing is, China is not even buying the spin.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Day 52. Double speaking

Reported at cnn.com
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama took aim Thursday at conservative critics who claim that he is using the economic crisis to ram through an unrelated, expansive domestic agenda.
I listened to part of this on CNBC. What I heard was nothing but double-speak and justification for growing the government and its influence in our (i.e. yours and mine) everyday lives. One minute before, he would say he does not want to increase government's role. He also mentioned that he was always 'optimistic'. Guess he forgot what he read off a teleprompter when the porkulus bill was being discussed. I remember words like catastrophe, crisis, and other gloom and doom terms. Now he is saying it is not as bad as we think!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Day 51. What's for dinner? PORK!

The president is going to sign the $410 billion budget.
(CNN) -- President Obama on Wednesday called for a reform of the much-maligned federal earmarking process. ... His remarks came the day after the Senate passed a $410 billion spending bill that included nearly 9,000 earmarks, which are projects designed to benefit individual legislators' districts. The earmarks in the spending bill are worth nearly $8 billion. Many critics have deemed them as wasteful, and some observers have questioned Obama's pledge to end such spending. Some lawmakers urged Obama to veto the bill -- saying it goes against the president's campaign pledge.
Read all about it here. The budget is full of pork and earmarks. During the campaign, we were promised and end to earmarks and pork. Does this bother you? It does not bother me, because I am not one to believe politicians. Basically we are seeing another example of the old Washing ton rule: 'Say anything to get elected, then do whatever you want.' What is their excuse?
"[Such bills] will not happen when the president has the full legislative and appropriations process in place," Peter Orszag, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, told CNN's "State of the Union With John King."
Can't wait to see what the excuse will be next year.

Day 50. Education

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama began to flesh out the details of one of his signature campaign promises Tuesday, outlining his plan for a major overhaul of the country's education system "from the cradle up through a career."

This article details the 5 tier plan the administration is floating. It is nice to know that the $787 billion (pork) stimulus bill had $5 billion for the Head Start program.  This will help low-income workers with childcare while they are out digging holes (or filling them in).

Seriously, some of this education stuff sounds OK.  For example, "...the president warned that ineffective teachers should not be allowed to remain on the job.  'If a teacher is given a chance but still does not improve, there is no excuse for that person to continue teaching,' he said. 'I reject a system that rewards failure and protects a person from its consequences.'".  He also mentions longer school calendars and higher standards.  Sure, I can go for that.

Of course the NEA will be reminding him later today (if not already) of their support in the election.  These initiatives will not grow legs and the republicans will be blamed.  Yep, thats how things work in Washing ton.  Hope?, maybe.  Change?, Not at all.

Day 49. The ends justify the means

The Obama administration has started the United States down a slippery slope...
(CNN) -- As President Obama reversed the Bush administration's limits on embryonic stem-cell research, he said scientific decisions must be "based on facts, not ideology."

The argument used here is that they are separating science from politics. Now that sounds innocent, right? But think, how will we continue to make scientific and medical advances? What price will we pay? What means will justify the end? There were medical experiments carried out during the holocaust. For example they wanted to simulate combat wounds of German soldiers. Is stem cell research any different? Really? We have good intentions, sure. Where will the next level of tolerance for destruction of human life be?

What, no who will WE sacrifice?

Day 48. It's a start!

I forgot this the other day and since Sunday is usually slow...

President Obama traveled to Columbus, Ohio, on Friday to hail the swearing-in of 25 new police officers who had been told after their training that the city did not have enough money to hire them.

Read it here...

This means the jobs loses since Feb. 1, 2009 is only 650975 (-651,000 + 25).

THANK GOD Barack Hussein Obama was elected president!

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Day 47. Hope and Change?

Quoted in this article, the president said...

"From the day I took office, I knew that solving this crisis would not be easy, nor would it happen overnight," Obama said in the weekly address. "And we will continue to face difficult days in the months ahead. But I also believe that we will get through this - that if we act swiftly and boldly and responsibly, the United States of America will emerge stronger and more prosperous than it was before."

Now that he spent trillions of dollars that still need to be printed, is he moving away from gloom and doom and returning to a message of hope? There is more evidence here.
Surely it is a fine line to balance on to frighten people enough to get your socialist programs passed, yet not too much so they lose confidence in you. If only someone in the media would track down Peggy Joseph and see how she is doing?

Is he worried about losing her with sky-rocketing unemployment and a lead balloon stock market?

This thing with British PM Gordon Brown is really embarrassing...read this article by Mark Steyn. So much for making nice with all the peoples of the world.

Day 46. President Barack Huessein Obama

How low will the DJIA be on day 100? How high will unemployment be on day 100? I am tracking them here.

People are starting to hurt in their wallets and pocketbooks. That is not good news for BOTO.

Finally, I came across this clever diagram:

You can find more of these at 4-Block World. Bookmark it!

Day 45. Will he or won't he?

The president is getting some pressure from a couple of senators in his own party to veto the newest pork bill. Apparently BOTO (Barack Obama, The One) believes that people have short memories, or don't care as long as they get their piece of the pie. It seems arrogant to me, but then as he said to congressional republicans, "I won.".

Will breaking a campaign promise come back to hurt him in 2012? Time will tell.

Others are picking up on my annoyance with Obama's crutch, I mean teleprompter. The guy can read like nobody else, but the way his eyes drift so awkwardly. Yikes. Its embarrassing that the leader of the free world can not talk without this device. With this behavior, he is "dumbing-down" the presidency...and I don't like it.

Day 44. Oh no! Going gray.

Left, Stephen Crowley/The New York Times; Doug Mills/The New York Times
Senator Barack Obama in 2007, left, and on Tuesday.

I guess this is all the news thats fit to print...

Wait, there's more...

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Day 43. It's true...

...this guy has no clue about what he is doing.

First...tax dodgers
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama's Treasury secretary says the administration will unveil a series of rules and measures in the coming months to limit the ability of international companies to avoid U.S. taxes.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday that Obama will propose legislation to limit U.S. companies' ability to shelter foreign earnings from taxation in the U.S. He also said the administration will try to limit wealthy Americans' ability to use tax havens to avoid taxation.

He did not immediately provide details.

I will give you the details, they will be appointed to cabinet positions in the administration like Geithner was. This has a feeling of, oh I don't know...hypocrisy.

Then he snubbed our best ally the, British Prime Minister...
Barack Obama lavished praise on the 'special relationship' between Britain and America last night - but only after giving Gordon Brown a distinctly muted reception.

The Prime Minister's first official meeting with the new President fell short of the lavish welcomes laid on in recent years.

Secretly cozying up to the Ruskies...
Russian President Dimitry Medvedev's comments came in response to a New York Times report that US President Barack Obama had written a secret letter to his Russian counterpart offering to halt the planned missile shield, which would be located mainly in Poland and the Czech Republic, in return for Moscow's help in stopping Iran from developing long-range nuclear weapons.

So much for transparency in this administration...

Damage control was on in full force again after attacking critics from the media like Santelli, Limbaugh and now Cramer...

Finally, the One showed his ignorance on things economic...

HT -> gordon gekko

Isn't it apparent that the country (i.e. the media) was drunk on making history?

Monday, March 2, 2009

Day 42. Hang on.

You've seen what the DJIA is doing? So what else is going on?

  • National security
MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran's nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.

  • Nationalizing Healthcare

  • WASHINGTON, March 2 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama has been vague about details of his healthcare reform efforts, but he provided a hint on Monday of one direction he could take -- community health centers.

  • Evil plans

  • WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. companies, consumers and communities may grow so addicted to government financial help that cutting them off could trigger another recession soon after the current one ends.

  • Hire another tax cheat

  • WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Dallas, Texas, Mayor Ron Kirk, who is President Obama's nominee to be the U.S. trade representative, owes nearly $10,000 in taxes. He's the fourth Obama pick that has come under fire for tax issues.

  • Par-tay (We won!)

  • WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House is the place to be on Wednesdays.

Since the presidency changed hands less than six weeks ago, a burst of entertaining has taken hold of the iconic, white-columned home of America's head of state. Much of it comes on Wednesdays.

Day 41. See Day 40.

Sucker.

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Day 40. Working

I don't know why, but for some reason I was working until the wee hours Saturday morning. I have no clue what Obama did today. I'm trying to make money to pay the mortgage and put gas in the car. Call me crazy, but I don't want Obama buying me stuff (OK taxpayers, really). It hurts that free-loaders will be taking some of my hard-earned money, but its a slightly lesser pain. Yeah, I guess I am a sucker.

Friday, February 27, 2009

Day 39. The war is over.

So that school girl's did will not be in Iraq for 100 years like her teacher said (youtube vidoe was removed--don't want public schools to 'look bad'). Obama is pulling ALL troops out of Iraq by Aug. 31, 2010. (Except for the 50000 that will have to stay back.) You hear that terrorists? Take the next 18 months to plot and plan.
Supposedly the brain trust of the democratic party is all upset by this plan. "Too many troops...". This talk seems like lip service to the anti-war constituents.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Day 38. Oh what a budget.

This is nuts. $634,000,000,000.00 for National Healthcare. $1,000,000,000,000.00 in new taxes, $1,750,000,000,000.00 deficit. What the hell?!?

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Day 37. Finishing touches

Obama is putting the finishing touches on his huge budget, after detailing lots of spending yesterday. The government is out of control. A democrat senator (Byrd of WV) is concerned about all the czars for this and that in this administration.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Day 36. Sate of the Union.

Wow, is it just me or is anyone else annoyed by the president's reading a teleprompter. He moves his head too far, then his eyes have to drift back to the prompter. It seems like this guy was watching a tennis match... it's very distracting.

Then there is the head cheerleader, Nancy Pelosi. That woman could not wait to jump up and clap. When she wasn't jumping up, she had that forced smile. It looked very uncomfortable. I think it was to keep her cheeks tight so they would not end up in her lap.

Finally Joe Biden. That guy has a permanent frown, but when he was grinning--wow! Did he get some new teeth? I had to put my sunglasses on. If someone digs up a picture of him from back in the campaign days, with yellow teeth, please link to it here.

OK, finally the speech. I had to turn away to listen to it for all the distractions (see above). I began hearing his words near the end when he was talking about the Florida banker, the town in Kansas that is rebuilding on their own, etc. I guess I missed the inspirational story about the folks in New Orleans rebuilding without help from taxpayers. What a difference values, government programs and self-sufficiency makes in shaping our country. You know who will put us on the right track...those who do not have their hands out!

The way the president talked, everybody is going to get something...who the hell is going to pay for all this?

Savers, like me, that's who.

Monday, February 23, 2009

Day 35. Too busy.

Big project at work. No time to find out how we got screwed today.

Sunday, February 22, 2009

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Day 33. Raising taxes.

This article talks about the president's plan to trim the deficit.
To sum up, the president used his weekly radio address to say he is determined to get the deficit under control. How? Raising taxes. On who? Businesses and the wealthy.

Yeah, that'll work, especially with the economy in the state it is in.

Friday, February 20, 2009

Day 32. Mr. Mayor, you are my scapegoat

From this article...
Using his presidential pulpit, Obama demanded accountability, from his friends in local government as well as his own agencies. He said the new legislation gives him tools to "watch the taxpayers' money with more rigor and transparency than ever," and that he will use them.

"If a federal agency proposes a project that will waste that money, I will not hesitate to call them out on it, and put a stop to it," he said. "I want everyone here to be on notice that if a local government does the same, I will call them out on it, and use the full power of my office and our administration to stop it."

The president has started to identify his scapegoats for when the trichinosis sets in from the raw pork deal being shoved down our throats.

Flash forward May, 2010. He'll say, "Nope. uh, it wasn't, uh me that wasted the, uh, taxpayers money. It was those, uh, mayors and other local officials that, uh, I have been, uh calling out these, uh past few months".

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Day 31. Oh, Canada!

The president went to Canada.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Day 30. Mortgage program

Now all Peggy needs is free gasoline.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Day 29. Domestic and foreign affairs...

Today the president saved out country by signing a giantic pork bill. Whoo Hooo. We're screwed.

On the foreign side, the president will be sending 17000 troops to Afghanistan. Someone tell me when the soldiers in Iraq will be coming home.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Day 28. Another day off?

Deciding to skip signing the urgent pork bill to avert a catastrophe, the president apparently took President's Day off, thinking that this was his holiday. There are many comparisons made between him and Lincoln.

Actually, I have no clue what the guy did today as I was busting my ass at work. Somebody has got to make some money to pay for this pork bill.

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Day 27. Ah, the good life.

"catastrophe", "urgent", ..., the rhetoric was amazing...Bradley Schiller has a very good write-up on it.

But now its over. "I won". "Lets celebrate while the middle-class schlubs break out the Made in China chocolates they got at Wal-Mart because that's all they can afford."

"C'mon, baby. Let's go get some dinner at Table 52 and sleep in Sunday morning."

Overheard at Table 52 Saturday night?...
"Waiter! Bring me pork. I must have more pork!"

Ah, the good life. He's livin' it.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Day 26. More joy over pork bill

The president used his weekly radio address to tout the pork bill some more. I am going to go get drunk again tonight.

Friday, February 13, 2009

Day 25. A quarter way through.

Here we are a quarter of the way thru the first 100 days. It's Friday the 13th. It's a sad day. Only god knows how much it will cost and what exactly is in this so-called stimulus bill. OK, god probably does not even know. Pork, pork and more pork. I am going to go get drunk now.

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Day 24. #3 down.

Obama's 3rd cabinet nomination (a Republican) has withdrawn his name from nomination for Commerce Secretary. Why? Another tax problem? Nope. This guy just can't stomach the pork bill.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Day 23. Wag the dog.

Plenty of manufacturing jobs in Washington. In a brilliant move (rivaling the Bill Clinton drama when he made a cross out of some stones on Omaha Beach in Normandy), the Obama Administration seems to have manufactured a similar moment with a woman (who's name is now of the household variety as this article put it) named Henrietta Hughes. That does not quite have the same ring as Joe the Plumber, but with the media's help it might.

Maybe Henrietta could get over to New Orleans and find some of the Katrina housing that has gone unused.

PS. Your blogger is checking to see if Henrietta knows Peggy Joseph.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Day 22. What's for dinner?

Pork. Lots and lots of pork.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Day 21. I won.

Stumble thru some town hall meetings. More fear mongering, more double talk. Blah, blah, blah.

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Day 20. Get packing

The president is packing for a trip to garner grassroots support for his socialist pork bill. Seems a little late for that, but since the poll numbers show support dropping, he must figure 'better late than never'.

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Day 19. More fear mongering

Same old rhetoric, same old fear mongering to get potential scapegoats (republican senators) signed on to the pork bill.

I guess this is the bill that Peggy Joseph is waiting for...

Hope and change?...not yet.

Friday, February 6, 2009

Day 18. Obama gets schooled.

Obama has showed us his inexperience and naivety. He appears to have no standing or gravitas as president. This is a hard lesson--the inner workings of the beltway. Perhaps it would have helped if he spent more time in the state legislature and US senate. He is trying to ram this bill down our throats--a bill he tossed to Nancy and Harry which the porked up even more. It seems that Nancy and Harry are sacrificing the historic president to make this bill their own. They have gotten O to ratchet up the rhetoric and verbal arm twisting, doing Nancy and Harry's dirty work...nice move by them. Quite frankly, he looks like a spoiled three year old throwing a tantrum. I thought he was supposed to be a unifier. Wasn't he going to pull the troops out of Iraq? Suckers.

Charles Krauthammer has a nice column on what he calls the 'awakening'.

So the senate has reached a compromise, great. I just hope the republicans will hold strong like they did in the house.

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Day 17. Comrade Obama

The president is fear-mongering again today. Remember yesterday's red flag? There should be two today.

He actually wants to cap the pay to executives of the banks receiving the bail out money. When will that stop? What else will the government demand to control? Will my neighbors be informing on me for this blog?

This is starting to get scary. The house Republicans stood firm on their vote. Lets hope the senator Republicans do the same. For the sake of the country.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Day 16. Chicken Little

The sky is falling, the sky is falling...
When ever a politician wants to ram something through the process, a red flag (like this one) should go up...

Speaking of China, the AP is shouting copyright infringement over the use of their photo. Apparently, the 'art' based on this photo is bringing in mega bucks. Now there's an economic stimulus plan. It beats the hell out of printing money.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Day 15. Wow, what a day!

This morning, O, was "absolutely" behind Daschle. This evening, he "screwed up". All the while, Iran is launching satellites into orbit and O's response is that we will use "all elements of our national power" to deal with them. Say, what?!?

Kids get some more wood for the fire, our enemies have not yet arrive to sing Kumbya...they are off threatening our national security.

I'm glad we'll have "Joe Biden, war hawk" to back up the O when he is messing himself under his desk when the first international crisis hits.

Monday, February 2, 2009

Day 14. First (of many) broken promises.

From politifact.com

One of President Obama's major campaign planks was making government more open and accountable. ...

I know, I know, you all were hoping for some change...sorry, "I won."

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Day 12. Dinner

In his weekly radio address, President Obama pledged to "get credit flowing again" and help reduce mortgage costs.
Later, he attended a dinner originally started to help celebrate Robert E. Lee's birthday.

Oh and apparently Iran is not willing to sit around the campfire with us and sing Kumbya. Way to go Mr. President.

Friday, January 30, 2009

Day 11. 'I am greatest!'

A week and a half go by and we have the greatest president since Lincoln!

Let's immortalize him even more. As a tribute to his stimulus package, once the inflation kicks in (and you need a wheelbarrow to buy a loaf of bread), the treasury should print $500.00 bills with Obama's picture!

Q. Why the $500.00?
A. The media continues to tell us, this guy is 100 times better than Lincoln ever dreamed of.

Of course the democrat controlled congress will have to repeal the 1866 law prohibiting living persons on currency.

Finally, since it is Friday, lets ignore and gloss over the fact that Obama wants to hire another tax cheat. (HT: gordon gekko)

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Day 10. Wooo Hooo,

Sweet! (fist-bumps Rahm) Blaggo is gone...hopefully he will keep his yap shut. Nobody will believe him, anyway.

And the nerve of those Wall Street types. Such extravagance. At least mine was justified last week being that I made history.

(Ed. I think it's funny that NYC has to cut back. The City lost a good bit or revenue from income taxes because Wall Street cut back on the bonuses.) I used to think the majority of Americans were lazy with their hand out, but it is really the politicians!)

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Day 9. First big win!

Congratulations. Now you are doing something...to hell with the "my administration will eliminate pork" campaign promise.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Day 8. Meetings, meetings.

Today, Obama met with GOP senators and representatives to push his stimulus bill (ARRP).

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Day 6. Day off.

I guess the USS Obama (that's United States Savior Obama) took the day off.

Here is an update from day 4. The Afghan Government is claiming 16 civilians were killed in Obama's war.

Weren't we supposed to be singing Kumbya with them starting January 21?

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Day 5. President Doom and Gloom.

This from the weekly radio address...
...this week, we saw more people file for unemployment than at any time in the last twenty-six years, and experts agree that if nothing is done, the unemployment rate could reach double digits. Our economy could fall $1 trillion short of its full capacity, which translates into more than $12,000 in lost income for a family of four. And we could lose a generation of potential, as more young Americans are forced to forgo college dreams or the chance to train for the jobs of the future.

He then goes on to talk about all the great things he will quickly do to fix the problems:

  • To accelerate the creation of a clean energy economy, we will double our capacity to generate alternative sources of energy like wind, solar, and biofuels over the next three years. We’ll begin to build a new electricity grid that lay down more than 3,000 miles of transmission lines to convey this new energy from coast to coast. (Good luck fighting environmental regulations and environmentalists.)
  • To lower health care cost, cut medical errors, and improve care, we’ll computerize the nation’s health record in five years, saving billions of dollars in health care costs and countless lives. (How many jobs will be lost by all this computerization and automation? If jobs won't be lost? How will cost be lowered? How about halting ambulance chaser law suits?)
  • To ensure our children can compete and succeed in this new economy, we’ll renovate and modernize 10,000 schools, building state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries, and labs to improve learning for over five million students. (Oh yeah, this will get us ahead of Japan in science and math, for sure.)
  • That means repairing and modernizing thousands of miles of America’s roadways and providing new mass transit options for millions of Americans. It means protecting America by securing 90 major ports and creating a better communications network for local law enforcement and public safety officials in the event of an emergency. And it means expanding broadband access to millions of Americans, so business can compete on a level-playing field, wherever they’re located. (See comment about environmentalists, for rebuilding roads. How are we going to expand broadband? BPL doesn't work. Please provide real details.)

Finally...

We won’t just throw money at our problems - we’ll invest in what works. Instead of politicians doling out money behind a veil of secrecy, decisions about where we invest will be made public, and informed by independent experts whenever possible. We’ll launch an unprecedented effort to root out waste, inefficiency, and unnecessary spending in our government, and every American will be able to see how and where we spend taxpayer dollars by going to a new website called recovery.gov.

This needs to be explained to Charlie Rangle and Robert Reich (HT to taxman) and some mayors around the country...

Furthermore, I have not seen anything in here about mortgage payments or gasoline

What gives?

Friday, January 23, 2009

Day 4. Busy today.

From this article...
Obama struck down a rule Friday that prohibits U.S. money from funding international family-planning clinics that promote abortion or provide counseling or referrals about abortion services.

Here is an interesting take on the issue...

HT to Stacy at SGP

Is responsible for killing 13 innocent people in Pakistan (18 total - 5 militants) according to this article from myway.

From this article on Politico ...

Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning - but he also left no doubt about who's in charge of these negotiations. "I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation

So much for bipartisanship and changing the way Washingotn works. We all knew he had a huge ego, but I didn't think it was this big. Do you supposed he gave Harry and Nancy fist-bumps after the meeting?

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Day 3. Executive orders.

Excerpts from this article...

President Obama issued three executive orders Thursday to demonstrate a clean break from the Bush administration, including one requiring that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed within a year.

A second executive order formally bans torture by requiring that the Army field manual be used as the guide for terrorism interrogations.

A third executive order establishes an interagency task force to lead a systematic review of detention policies and procedures and a review of all individual cases.

OK, maybe now the Iranians and other extremist around the world will stop burning our president (Obama) in effigy.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Day 2. More symbolism (and another shot at the oath).

Excerpted from CNN...
"Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency," Obama said.

Time will tell on this one.

Among other things, Obama said he would issue a pay freeze for his senior staff.

Considering that they just got their jobs, this too, is pretty much all symbolism.

Has anyone heard about when the government will start paying our mortgages and for our gasoline?

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Day 1. History in the making

Day 1. Here we are. It's 9:00 AM on the east coast. George Bush is still president.

According to all media reports, you should have bought stock in Kleenix because all those tears of joy are going to need to be wiped up. You could probably make some money in Washington today selling Depends--apparently a lot of people will also be peeing their pants with excitement.

Since we are having a snow storm, the TV news is on...CBS, because they have the best local weather guy. Katie Kouric is on now... Uh-oh, brb.

Ok, we're back now. I had to go throw up.

The expectations for this guy are very high. You know what happens when you have high expectations for a movie. Although Katie was already making some excuses for him based on the reality of the current economic situation.

We'll report back later today with an update on Day 1.

Update: The high expectations are continuing in the media. Here is a lip-service payment to the anti-war crowd...
In one of his first acts in office President Obama has ordered the U.S. government to suspend prosecutions of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay for 120 days, military officials said Tuesday.

Reported here.
